Who are we?
We are a group comprised of philanthropists, experienced school director, international graduate and post graduate educator, Montessori professionals, teachers, support staff and parents.
We are creating a school based on a powerful common vision, a love of the community of Kingwood and plan for all children to assist in creating a new world. This school is not a finished article but a work in progress that will grow organically. Montessori education is about the journey of life long learning and is not a destination in and of itself.
Why Choose Kingwood Montessori School?
Why should I choose to send my child to Kingwood Montessori School?
Our new school is based on the well established and rigorous Montessori Method. We understand the need for multicultural education in this global community and we have the belief that the happiness of the child and peace in which they learn are the spring board for their success as future world leaders. We will provide Montessori education for your child from Toddler (18 months) through Upper Elementary (6th grade).
The teachers of Kingwood Montessori School provide education that teaches your child how to live “in the now”, prepare for the “future”, and understand and value the “past”. We understand that our living and the quality of it in every moment is worth more than any preparation or reflection on it. Quite often the “in the now” sentiment has been attached to “alternative" teachings and has attracted labels. Our school believes that a life lived fully, each day, with rich experiences, love, kindness, courtesy to others, whilst imagining and dreaming with the community about the future, is no longer in the realms of the “alternative”.
Students will be taught to dream big. The founders of “Google” were Montessori graduates.

As a preparation for responsible world stewardship we have developed a Green campus, just another step towards a sustainable world for our children.
Here are comments from some of our parents:
“Ian gets up every day eager to go to school. He calls his teacher--"My Miss Bessie." He talks about her incessantly. I can't say enough good things about Ian's experience at Kingwood Montessori this year. As you know, Ian was quite resistant to the idea of attending a new school. This didn't last long. The new school soon became--"My school." Ian and I have visited the new school site (on Mills Branch Drive) several times--sometimes at his request-- to check the progress, so he will be ready to make the transition. Each time we talk about the fact that his school is coming with him to the new site--Miss Bessie and all of his friends will be with him. Thank you for making my son so excited about learning and so eager to go to school each day”. Kim Klepcyk – Parent
“Choosing Kingwood Montessori is one of the most meaningful things we have ever doing for our son. The staff, curriculum, families and other students have not only been nurturing and caring, but have also ignited his sense of well-being and love of learning. The productivity of the children far surpasses anything we’ve ever experienced and the children are unknowingly becoming the next generation of leaders in more ways than we could ever imagine! There is a balance in the school community that creates passion, creativity, engagement and diligence in addition to learning!” John & Erinn McMahon - Parent
Victor said to me “I like my school because I'm learning a lot". Emma said “Why can't I go to school on the weekend?" Mom says, “I feel fortunate that my children have the opportunity to be part of Kingwood Montessori School, the environment of peace and joy invites my children to learn. They learn respect, order, and their character is being built along with their intellect. I am grateful to the wonderful staff for being so dedicated and professional". Lydia Cepeda - Parent

What is the status of the school?
Kingwood Montessori is a non-profit organization. Our school is now open and enrolling students from toddler to 6th grade at our new school site located in The Colonnade, Suite #50, 2510 Mills Branch Drive, Kingwood, Texas 77345.
We will be applying for Montessori accreditation and will eventually have a Middle school years Montessori program.
Why Montessori?
Kingwood Montessori is founded on the Method created by Maria Montessori, 100 years ago.
http://www.amshq.org/
“Scientific observation has established that education is not what the teacher gives; education is a natural process spontaneously carried out by the human individual, and is acquired not by listening to words but by experiences upon the environment. The task of the teacher becomes that of preparing a series of motives of cultural activity, spread over a specially prepared environment, and then refraining from obtrusive interference. Human teachers can only help the great work that is being done, as servants help the master. Doing so, they will be witnesses to the unfolding of the human soul and to the rising of a New Man who will not be a victim of events, but will have the clarity of vision to direct and shape the future of human society. - Maria Montessori, Education for a New World” http://www.montessori.edu/maria.html

What is Peace Education?
Peace studies have long been a part of the Montessori system. Montessori has been seen as peace education and we believe that the peaceful nature of the method is the reason. Therefore the understanding of “peace” will be disseminated not only by teaching facts and figures but by being peaceful and acting peacefully.
What is Servant-Leadership?
Robert K. Greenleaf, an AT&T executive, coined the phrase servant-leadership in 1970. The servant-leadership philosophy stresses increased service to others, a holistic approach to work, promoting a sense of community, and the sharing of power in decision making.
Servant-leadership supports people who choose to serve first, and then lead as a way of expanding service to individuals and organizations.
In June 2007, we were invited to be the first primary and elementary Montessori school in America to participate in a national pilot program to develop the integration of servant-leadership principles and civic engagement into the school curriculum. This is sponsored by a collaboration of the Greenleaf Center in Indianapolis and Manoa Partnerships of the University of Hawaii.
What are "Green" Philosophies?
The environmental goals of Kingwood Montessori are to meet or exceed applicable environmental laws and regulations and to protect our environment through education. This commitment is fulfilled by incorporating environmental priorities into the curriculum, buildings, and our business plan and by minimizing the environmental impact during the everyday operation of school business. It is our priority to continually improve in pollution prevention, waste management and recycling and to educate employees, communities, and customers on responsible environmental practices.
Kingwood Montessori promotes excellence in environmental education through a broad and effective network of practitioners and stakeholders, and serves educators for the purpose of achieving environmental literacy to create a healthier environment and better quality of life.
Looking Back - Join us as we look back at our journey that has brought us to where we are today!
