Why a Montessori Summer Program is Your Child's Best Summer Yet

Summer break is often a mix of excitement and, let’s be real—worry for many parents. Sure, kids get a break from early mornings and packed lunches, but what about the months-long gap in learning? That’s where a Montessori summer program steps in, offering the perfect balance of fun, structure, and growth.

At Kingwood Montessori School, we’ve designed our summer program to keep kids curious, active, and confident. It’s not just school in disguise—it’s summer with purpose.

Learning That Doesn’t Feel Like Learning

Let’s face it: most kids won’t get jazzed about summer “lessons.” That’s why we don’t do worksheets and lectures. Instead, kids get to explore hands-on science, dive into creative projects, and build real-world skills. Whether they’re experimenting with magnets, painting a group mural, or baking bread in class, they’re learning without even realizing it.

And because Montessori education thrives on individualized learning, each child can follow their interests at their own pace. No pressure, no competition—just the joy of discovering something new every day.

Keep the Routine, Skip the Boredom

Young children thrive on routine. Take it away, and suddenly you're dealing with cranky mornings and way too much screen time. Our Montessori summer program keeps a familiar rhythm—arrival, activity time, outdoor play, lunch, rest, and more. But every day still feels like an adventure.

We group children by developmental stages:

  • Toddler (18 months–3 years)

  • Early Childhood (3–5 years)

  • Elementary (6–12 years)

So whether your child is just starting to talk or reading chapter books, they’re in the right place, with the right support.

Creativity Takes Center Stage

Summer at Kingwood Montessori is full of movement and imagination. Kids might be sculpting clay, strumming a ukulele, or learning yoga poses. Outdoors, they tend gardens, explore nature, and play cooperative games.

We encourage creativity not just as an activity but as a mindset. This builds confidence, independence, and problem-solving skills that stick with them far beyond the break.

More Than Just a Summer Camp

This isn’t your average day camp. At Kingwood Montessori, we’re intentional about everything we do. Every material, lesson, and activity is designed to foster lifelong learning, kindness, and a love of the world around us.

We also teach grace and courtesy daily—how to work with others, resolve conflicts peacefully, and show respect for people and space. These soft skills are often overlooked elsewhere, but we believe they’re just as important as academics.
