EARLY-CHILDHOOD
Three to Five Years
The Kingwood Montessori Early-Childhood (Pre-School) program is based upon a profound respect for the child's personality. The child works following their own interests and is allowed a large measure of independence which forms the basis of self-discipline. As each child progresses and successfully completes the self-correcting manipulative exercises, they develop confidence in their innate abilities. Sensorial exercises assist the child with the ability to discriminate, refine, and sharpen their senses, as well as for accurate judgments on perceptual experiences (size, shape, weight, color, sound, etc.). The practical life exercises help the child to master daily life activities while refining motor control.

Early Childhood Education Programs at Kingwood Montessori School
At Kingwood Montessori School, we recognize that early childhood is a time of boundless curiosity, rapid development, and endless possibilities. Our early childhood education programs are designed to provide a strong foundation for lifelong learning by nurturing each child’s unique abilities, fostering independence, and cultivating a love for exploration.
What Makes Our Early Childhood Education Programs Unique?

Our programs emphasize peace, diversity, and respect while embracing the Montessori philosophy, which focuses on individualized learning and hands-on experiences. We serve children from 18 months through kindergarten, providing a structured yet flexible environment where young learners thrive.

Key highlights of our early childhood education programs include:

1. Individualized Learning Plans

Every child learns differently, and our programs honor this individuality by tailoring activities to each student’s developmental stage, interests, and abilities.
2. Hands-On Exploration

Using specialized Montessori materials, children engage in activities that promote cognitive development, fine motor skills, and problem-solving abilities.
3. Social and Emotional Development

Our diverse classrooms encourage collaboration, empathy, and communication. Children learn the value of respect, kindness, and working together as a community.
4. Focus on Independence

Practical life skills are an integral part of our programs. From self-care tasks to organizing their workspace, children develop confidence and self-reliance.
5. Academic Preparation

Our early childhood education programs lay a strong academic foundation by integrating subjects like math, language, science, and the arts into everyday learning experiences.
The Montessori Approach to Early Education

The Montessori method lies at the heart of our programs, emphasizing child-led learning in a prepared environment. Our classrooms are designed to inspire curiosity and discovery, featuring carefully chosen materials that cater to the developmental needs of young children.

Children are free to explore and choose activities that resonate with their interests while our teachers provide guidance and encouragement to deepen their understanding. This approach fosters a love of learning that lasts a lifetime.

Nurturing Your Child’s Natural Wonder: Our Early Childhood Classrooms
If you spend any time around a three-or four-year-old, you know they are basically walking question marks. They want to touch everything, try everything, and do things completely by themselves. It can be exhausting at home, but in the right school environment, that exact energy is a superpower.
At Kingwood Montessori School, we don't try to quiet that natural curiosity. We embrace it. Our early childhood program is built entirely around respecting who your child is right now. We give them a room full of real things to discover, allowing them to choose their own activities and learn how to focus deeply without an adult constantly hovering or telling them what to do.
How our preschool classrooms actually operate

If you walk into our rooms, you won’t see toys scattered around or kids staring at screens. Instead, you'll see a space where everything is built just for their size.

-
Learning at their own speed: No two kids develop on the same timeline. We observe your child, see what they are drawn to, and give them lessons that match their current mental and physical coordination.
-
Sharpening the senses: Kids learn with their hands. We use specialized materials that teach them how to sort sizes, weights, shapes, and colors through actual touch and trial.
-
Real-life practice: Your child will learn how to pour liquid without spilling, tie shoes, button jackets, and tidy up their own workspace. It looks basic, but it builds incredible hand strength and coordination.
-
Learning to be a good friend: Because our classrooms mix different ages, the older kids naturally look out for the little ones, and the younger ones see what is possible. It creates a genuinely kind, sweet community.

What a typical day looks like
We don't live by a strict, stressful bell schedule, but we do have a predictable rhythm that keeps kids feeling safe.

The morning work block
This is our favorite part of the day. The room gets incredibly calm as kids settle into their chosen tasks. One child might be working with math beads, another might be practicing writing letters in sand, and a few others might be washing a table together.

Playing and gathering
We spend a lot of time outside letting kids run, climb, and get fresh air. We also gather on the rug for stories, singing, and group projects where they learn how to share ideas and listen to each other.
Come watch how your child reacts to our space
The best way to know if this is the right fit is to bring your child along and see how they naturally interact with our environment. We’ll walk through the halls, meet the teachers, and give you a real taste of daily school life.

Questions parents ask us most
What are the exact ages for this classroom?
This program is specifically designed for kids from three to five years old, which covers the traditional preschool and kindergarten age range.

What do the teachers actually do during the day?
Our certified educators don't stand at a board lecturing. They move around the room, quietly observing each child and introducing tougher concepts only when a child is ready.

Will my child learn normal academics here?
Absolutely. Kids dive into math, reading, science, and geography, but they learn it through physical, hands-on objects rather than worksheets or memorization.

How does this help a shy or stubborn child?
Because children choose their own work, they feel in control. Succeeding at tasks they picked themselves naturally builds real confidence and lowers frustration.
